Let me tell you a story. I’d been working to get my book published. When you’re self-publishing, this basically means you hit enter. Yes, you need your book edited and you need to work with someone to design a cover and you need to upload your book. There is a process. But then you have to hit enter.
I was really good at putting off hitting enter. I had so many excuses.
“It’s not edited enough.” “It’s horrid weather and I have to shovel the driveway.” “I have to drive my kids to swim.” “The dog needs a walk.” “I can’t find my earring.”
Lots and lots of excuses.
Then I received an email from Women’s Fiction Writers Association with an entry for their Author Happy Hour. I decided to enter. I hadn’t hit publish, but I had a date I was going to (technically) (If I found my earring in time.) So I submitted.
And they accepted me!
And I hit publish!
I’m so excited to be talking with these amazing women tomorrow night. I am definitely the newbie in the group and I cannot wait to learn from their experience. Tomorrow night’s Happy Hour is what finally stopped me from designing excuses and got me to design my book! I hope to see you there.
